MIT Open Course Introduction — Writing and Reading Short Stories

This summer, I wanted to focus on expanding my reading material as well as spending a little more time on history. Though boarding school has definitely helped broaden my reading material and taught me more deeply about important historical moments and events, I have been far too busy to pursue reading and history for the pleasure of it. My dad’s friend recommended the MIT Open Course to me last year, and until now, I simply haven’t had the time (or the courage) to look further into it. But this summer, now that school is over, I have finally bitten the bullet! To be honest, I don’t know what I was expecting, but I have to say that I am pleasantly pleased and excited by all the courses I have seen so far. There are so many choices that it is dizzying. I have been taking a few days to slowly peruse what courses are on offer, as well as selecting a course that truly interests me. Though these are real courses that were taught at MIT, as this is a course open to everyone and no marks are given, it will be as easy to start it as it is to drop it. So to make myself accountable, I will try my best to chart my progress and post about the things I have learned along the way.
