Feminism in South Korea
Feminism has finally arrived in South Korea. I’m not saying that feminism didn’t exist here, but in the last year, it has definitely made a much more forceful appearance. One reason is that more and more women are coming forward and/ or calling out for public awareness of sexual harassment that takes place on so many levels, and in all aspects of society. Young Korean women these days are more educated about such matters than in any previous generations, and those who have been victims are no longer willing to endure in shamed silence. As a girl living in Korea, I believe this move towards empowering women in South Korea is a much-needed step in the right direction. I have always been fascinated by strong female role models, and history has had plenty of them. I thought it would be interesting to go way back in time and write about a couple of women whom I admire, as well as exploring various points of history. As the posts are quite long, I will probably have to break them up into smaller posts. Who are some women in history whom you admire? I’d love it if you could leave me a comment in the comment section.
